ROD RUN SUPPORTS OUR TROOPS OVERSEAS!!

More than 550 Kansas National Guard troops are now stationed in the Horn of Africa to provide security and to be involved in missions that range from force protection to mentoring professional development.

The unit includes soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 161st Field Artillery, headquartered in Wichita with subordinate units in Dodge City, Great Bend, Lenexa, Liberal, Hutchinson, Newton, Paola, Pratt and Topeka, and from the 35th Military Police Company headquartered in Topeka.

The Hutchinson Rod Run has designated these troops as the beneficiary of donations collected at this year’s event.  We invite our sponsors, vendors, car registrants and visitors to the event to join us in showing our heartfelt support and gratitude to these Kansas soldiers for the great job they are doing to insure our safety and the safety of America.

HELP US COLLECT NEEDED ITEMS FOR TROOP CARE PACKAGES!!

Select from among the requested items listed on this list and bring your donations with you to the Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run & Classic Car Show, September 30, October 1 and 2, 2011 and drop them off in the military trucks downtown. We will pack the Care Packages for mailing and ship them overseas.

WRITE A LETTER IN SUPPORT OF OUR TROOPS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE CARE PACKAGE!!

Letters of support can be from you, from children, or from your business, office, school, or other organization in support of our troops. Let the recipient know who is sending them the Care Package items so that they may correspond.  There will be note cards, pens and space at the Rod Run for those who wish to sit and compose a message to the troops.  Children will also have space to draw pictures and write messages at the Rod Run.  Consider including a picture of your car or a family picture.
