ROD RUN VOLUNTEERS

The Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run & Classic Car Show will be an entire weekend community event with special activities planned for everyone - men, ladies, locals and visitors alike!

This year the event will take place September 30 through October 2, 2011, downtown on Main from Sherman to Avenue B, Avenue A from Washington to Walnut, Walnut from Avenue A to Avenue B, and Avenue A Park and will include an early Friday morning golf tournament for car registrant golfers as well as local golf enthusiasts at The Course at Carey Park, a Friday evening city-wide cruise and a parade of cars for residents to enjoy as they watch the hot rods, street rods, classic cars, rat rods and motorcycles cruise through the city.

Friday evening, upon the return of the cars to Rod Run headquarters, the old McVay Garage and Yellow Cab Company building on Avenue A, the community is invited to a free street dance. This year Memorial Hall, across the street from the Garage, will be filled with vendors and sponsors sharing information about their products while videos of past car shows are shown on the big screen. 

An addition to the event this year is a live auction of cars and car-related items on Saturday. Sunday morning will begin with Hot Rod Church in the Avenue A Gazebo.  Of course Friday night, Saturday and Sunday will be a time for show and shine of the registered cars for everyone to enjoy.  The event will conclude with a 2:00 pm awards program in Memorial Hall on Sunday. Everyone is welcome to attend these events and enjoy a beautiful fall day downtown.
