Answer: The 2011 Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run & Classic Car Show will be held on Friday, September 30, Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2, 2011, in downtown Hutchinson, Kansas.

What time does it start?
Answer:  Event times are as follows.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29

  • Vendor Set-Up in Memorial Hall, on Avenue A, Walnut 5 – 8PM

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30

  • Vendor Set-Up in Memorial Hall, on Avenue A, Walnut 7 – 10AM
  • Rod Run Golf Tournament – The Course at Carey Park 8AM Golfer Check-in 9AM Shotgun Start
  • Rod Run Vehicle Registration – McVay’s Garage, 16 E. Avenue A 10AM – 9PM

How much is admission for spectators?
Answer:  There is no admission fee for spectators.

How do I get to the 2011 Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run & Classic Car Show?
Answer:  Go to the Event Map page for directions.  The event will take place downtown on Main from Sherman to Avenue B, Avenue A from Washington to Walnut, Walnut from Avenue A to Avenue B, and Avenue A Park.  Main Street from Sherman to Avenue A will be closed Saturday and Sunday only.

How do I enter my car?
Answer:  You can pre-register on this site Online Vehicle Registration.
Registration is open to CLASSIC AND ANTIQUE CARS & TRUCKS, CUSTOM RODS, STREET RODS, MUSCLE CARS, MOTORCYCLES, CUSTOM TRUCKS, RAT RODS, EXOTIC VEHICLES AND WRAPPED VEHICLES in show quality, safe, with no broken glass.  Fill out the official registration form online and pay with a credit or debit card, and then email a color picture of the vehicle to jerry@hutchrodrun.com, or send a color photo of the vehicle to Hutch Rod Run, P.O. Box 627, Hutchinson, KS 67504-0627.  You can also download a registration form from the website, fill it out, enclose the form with a color photo of the vehicle and a check for the proper amount and mail your completed registration to Hutch Rod Run, P.O. 627, Hutchinson, KS 67504-0627.

Can I register on site?
Answer:  Yes.  Vehicle registration forms will be available at vehicle check-in Friday 10 AM to 9PM and Saturday from 8AM to 10 PM at the old McVay Cab Company Garage at 16 E. Avenue A downtown  Hutchinson.

Can I register for only one day?
Answer:  Yes, however the registration for one day is the same as for all days.

How much does it cost to register my vehicle?
Answer:    The registration fee is $30.  To qualify as a registered vehicle, your vehicle must meet the standards below:
The show is open to Antique cars and trucks, custom rods, street rods, muscle cars, motorcycles, custom trucks, Motorcycles, rat rods and exotic vehicles.  All vehicles are subject to year-of manufacture verification. 

All vehicles at the Downtown Hutchinson Rod Run & Classic Car Show must be licensed, insured, registered, show quality and safe for the event.   No motorized or non-motorized contrivances which do not comply with these requirements shall be ridden on the event grounds.  Only recognized, single occupant handicap contrivances, motorized or non-motorized, will be allowed.  The decision of the Hutchinson Rod Run officials will be final.

  • Show quality vehicles with no broken glass
  • Upon inspection of pre-registered vehicle, organizers reserve the right to revoke registration.  If revoked, fee will be refunded within three weeks after event.
  • No unauthorized bicycles, skate boards, golf carts, or motorized carts allowed within event boundary.
  • No roping off of large sections of spaces. 
  • Vehicles activating hydraulics and/or air bags, flames from exhaust, obscene or offensive artwork, signs, stickers, etc. are prohibited.
  • Open exhaust system rules are strictly enforced.

What restrictions are there?
Answer:

  • No “For Sale” signs are allowed.  (If you are interested in selling a vehicle, see information on the Live Auction on this website.)
  • Discreet decal/paint is allowed.
  • No unauthorized bicycles, skateboards, golf carts, and motorized carts allowed within event boundary.
  • No roping off large sections or spaces.

How many spaces are available?
Answer:  Space is limited to the first 400 vehicles approved.  Open parking (no reserved or assigned parking)

Will there be trophies awarded?
Answer:  Yes, trophies will be awarded in 31 classes (see Official Vehicle Registration Form for list of classes.)  The awards ceremony will be in Memorial Hall on Sunday at 2PM

Where are your hotels/motels?  Can I stay in my RV?
Answer:  Hutchinson and the surrounding communities have many hotels and motels to meet your accommodation needs.  Click here to view hotel/motel/RV accommodations.

Do I have to have a car registered in the Rod Run in order to play in the Golf Tournament? 
Answer:  No.  The Golf Tournament at The Course at Carey Park is open to all ages and genders.  You need not have a registered car in the Rod Run to play in the tournament.

Do I have to have an estimated handicap to play in the Golf Tournament?
Answer:  No.  We will take your handicap or your average score.

Can I sign up for the Golf Tournament the day of the event?

Will I need a golf cart or can I walk the course?
Answer:  A golf cart will be provided for each team of two players, however, if you wish to walk the course, you may do so.

If I register my car downtown for the Rod Run and park it Friday morning, how can I get to the golf course?
Answer:  We will have shuttle service from downtown to the Course at Carey Park for tournament golfers who have registered their cars and want to park them downtown for the day Friday.   The shuttle will leave downtown at 8:30AM and will return downtown immediately after the Golf Tournament.

How can I become a vendor?
Answer:  Memorial Hall, located at the corner of Avenue A and Walnut, downtown will be the site of Rod Run Marketplace.  A limited number of spaces are available inside where there will be refreshments and car-related movies being show on the big screen.  There are spaces outside for car-related vendors.  The best way to become a vendor is to contact Janet Regier by email:  janet@hutchrodrun.com or phone 620-966-5447 or refer to our Vendor Information page.
