FRIDAY NIGHT MAIN STREET CRUISE

Cruise Night

Sponsored by:

Volunteer Kansas' mission is to connect potential volunteers to organizations that need help. Based in Wichita, Kansas, Volunteer Kansas has an extensive and diverse network of individual, corporate and non-profit contacts, making it uniquely suited to take on the visionary goal of making Kansas the number-one volunteer state.

The popular Friday Night Cruise is back again, Friday, October 4, sponsored by Volunteer Kansas. This year we will be Cruisin' Main, just like in the old days. The cruise will be open to everyone who has registered their car, truck or motorcycle for the weekend Rod Run & Classic Car Show and has their registration card posted on their windshield. With registration materials, each participant will receive a map showing the cruise route and instructions.

The Cruise begins at 6 PM. Vehicles parked in their assigned spaces facing south, will pull out onto Main Street and drive south from downtown to Carey Park at 5:30PM to line up for the 6:00PM cruise.

Vehicles parked facing north will drive to the nearest intersection and make a U turn to head south on Main Street to line up at Carey Park. Street Marshalls will be at each intersection to allow this process to run smoothly.

The cruise will begin in Carey Park and proceed north on Main Street, through Downtown to 20 th. At 20th vehicles will turn right and proceed three blocks and then turn left through the entrance gate to the Kansas State Fair. Vehicles will follow the signs to Ft. Levenworth Road. They will then drive north on Fort Levenworth to the 23rd Street exit of the Fairgrounds where there will be a traffic signal to let them turn left onto Main Street to cruise back downtown. (NOTE: The route will be marked.)

The Kansas State Fairgrounds are hosting a large Good Sam RV Rally as well as the Central Plains Rodeo Association finals over this weekend. We have promoted the Cruise to these two groups as an opportunity to view the Rod Run vehicles as they drive through the Fairgrounds on Friday night.

Once the Cruise returns downtown to the Event Area, vehicles should be parked in their assigned spots so that everyone can enjoy "King Midas & the Mufflers" live on stage at First and Main Street playing all the great hits from the '50s, 60's and 70's.

See the cruise map for details.
